This was kind of a weird side story thing about two insane catgirls loosely based on the two black cats (of the same names) a friend had, with a bit of Josh Lesnick/CuteWendy influence too. It was kind of a weird, fourth-wall-breaking thing, and a lot of fun to do. I’d been planning to eventually reveal that they were Arlene’s nieces, but never got around to it.
So yeah, the Azumanga Daioh influence was getting even stronger.
The Internet is still one of my favorite characters.
At the time I had super-cheap web hosting, and the hosting company apparently folded or something and was just gone. And this happened just after I’d done a comic where a character does various violent things to The Internet. So yeah. Also, this was from back when my site was on blackbird.nu (“Blackbird’s Domain,” of which Neko Machi was one of many parts).
Halo was one of those things that brought out fanboys like crazy, on both sides. It did have some flaws, but an awful lot of the things that people complained about came from either not understanding how they worked or having really narrow tastes in FPS games. I still contend that if something like Halo’s motion tracker had been in Doom or Quake people would be bitching any time an FPS didn’t have it. And plasma pistols were ridiculously good if you knew how to use them, enough so that Bungie nerfed the shit out of them in Halo 2. AAAANYWAY.
