Kitty Kitty is fairly reserved, except among her friends and in class. She likes to be the voice of reason, but isn't always very good at it and often settles for being the voice of sarcasm. She tends to think of herself as plain and dull, but in reality she's pretty cute and has a good sense of humor. She lives with her family, including a younger sister (named Princess) and a small army of plushies. Over the summer Kitty took a nasty blow to the head and for a while had the personality of Kurumi, a cheerful 10-year-old bunny girl (who could only speak in Japanese when she's upset). Returning to normal involved a big epiphany, but the only notable change seems to be that she got a new haircut. |

Calico Popular around school and involved in lots of extracurricular activities, Calico often finds herself too busy to even function effectively, much less spend time with her friends consistently. She's often a bundle of energy, but sometimes crashes very hard. She loves dancing and has been practicing kendo for some time. |

Snowball Snowball is a technophile and a cynical atheist, yet she and her family are remarkably well-adjusted. While Kitty collects plushies, Snowball goes in for accumulating high-tech gadgets and upgrading her computer. |

Sylvia Sylvia can be lazy in the extreme, and rarely makes any attempt to control her fluctuating emotions, but she's also a talented artist and has a lot of common sense. Her family's kind of messed up and she's wound up giving her younger stepbrother a well-deserved beatdown more than once. |

Tama Although she has many redeeming qualities (most notably integrity and intelligence), it's mainly Tama's arrogance and agression that people notice. She's been taking karate classes since she was eight years old, and already holds a black belt. She has excellent reflexes and strength, and a keen analytical mind. And she rarely lets anyone forget these things for long, despite her vocabulary tending to go on vacation and inconvenient moments. A side-effect of her inquisitive mind is that any random object in her vicinity is bound to be twiddled with. |

Michelle A new girl who the group runs into over summer break, Michelle is a bundle of energy and an endless source of jokes. She loves laughing, playing, and video games, but also has a very deep serious side that few people see. |

Ken A friend of Calico's, Ken appears to be a dog-person, but whever he's asked he invariably insists that he's a cat. He's a very laid-back person and is big into video games and driving, especially his new Subaru WRX. |

Jezebel A friend of Calico and Sylvia though they go to different schools and thus rarely get to see much of each other, Jezebel is an odd combination of artistic, dark, and cute. |

A-chan Through an odd twist of fate, A-chan used to go to a school where there were three girls named Ayumu. They got nicknamed A-san, A-chan, and The Notorious A. The A-chan nickname stuck even after she changed schools and it was no longer necessary. She's intelligent, cheerful, neurotic and sometimes spacy, with a highly organized lifestyle and a highly chaotic style of conversation. |

Sunny No one is quite sure why Sunny is the way she is, but she's usually incredibly cheerful and energetic (though by no means innocent). Although a good friend to the other girls she goes to a different school and until she manges to transfer can only see them occasionally. |

Iris An acquaintance of the girls from school, Iris is a dilligent and intelligent student who still has a few things to learn about dealing with other people. Iris is reserved and gets uncomfortable around people she doesn't know very well, but spending time with friends is one of the few things she enjoys more than making complex and time-consuming upgrades and modifications to her computer. |

Shadow and Midnight Unrelated to the rest of the Neko Machi cast (as far as we know), Shadow and Midnight are two sisters who seem to spend their time standing around talking and bickering. Midnight is dumb but happy, and Shadow is usually keeps a rolled-up newspaper handy in case she feels the need to whap her sister in the face. Somehow this seems to work out. |

Arlene Arlene is the girls' homeroom and literature teacher, and one of the more difficult instructors to deal with at the school. She has a certain "intensity" and has been known to display something resembling cruelty even when attempting to be a kind and successful educator. |
